Language: English

Buurted operates a local marketplace where neighbors can publish listings, save favorites, send requests, chat, reserve items, and complete local handovers. This policy explains what personal data Buurted processes, why it is processed, and how people using the Buurted app can exercise control over their data.

1. Who controls your data

Buurted is the controller of the personal data processed through the Buurted marketplace and related support flows. For privacy questions, rights requests, or complaints about data handling, contact privacy@buurted.nl or use the help options in the app.

2. What data Buurted collects

  • Account and profile data such as email address, display name, profile photo, biography, onboarding completion, and profile visibility preferences.
  • Location and buurt data used to place you in one or more neighborhoods, show approximate listing location, and support local discovery.
  • Listing content, including titles, descriptions, tags, images, category choices, prices, reservation and sold status, and sale-method choices such as fixed price, offers, symbolic exchange, cash, or iDEAL selection.
  • Marketplace interaction data such as favorites, request history, counter-offers, reservation flows, seller mark-sold actions, handover coordination, transaction state updates, and activity event records.
  • Conversation and message data when buyers and sellers communicate in the app.
  • Device and app data such as app version, crash or usage signals where enabled, activity unread state, and Expo push token registration information for notifications.
  • Moderation and trust data such as reports, policy flags, AI analysis outputs, structured listing metadata, scam or abuse-prevention signals, and support records linked to safety issues.

3. Why Buurted uses this data

Buurted uses personal data to create and secure accounts, publish listings, operate chat and request flows, manage favorites and activity badges, deliver push notifications, help buyers and sellers coordinate local exchanges, prevent abuse, and keep the marketplace relevant to the user's buurt. Buurted also uses data to review listings for policy compliance, improve categorization, support reports and enforcement, and maintain marketplace quality.

4. AI-assisted analysis and moderation

Buurted uses AI-assisted tooling to analyze listing images and content, extract structured product attributes, suggest categories or descriptions, and support moderation reviews. These tools are used to improve safety, classification, search quality, and operational efficiency. AI outputs are treated as signals for Buurted systems and reviewers; they do not replace all human judgment.

5. Lawful bases

Buurted generally processes data because it is necessary to provide the marketplace service you request, to pursue legitimate interests such as fraud prevention, safety, and service improvement, or because you have chosen optional settings such as analytics, personalization, or marketing preferences. When legal obligations apply, Buurted may retain or disclose information as required.

6. Sharing and processors

Buurted shares data with service providers that help host the app, store files, send notifications, process analytics where consented, and operate moderation or customer-support workflows. This can include cloud hosting, file delivery, push infrastructure, analytics tooling used under consent, and operational tooling that helps Buurted review reports or moderation outcomes. Data may also be disclosed to competent authorities or legal advisers when required for compliance, safety, or dispute handling.

7. Location, notifications, and activity records

Buurted uses approximate neighborhood information to show listings locally without exposing unnecessary precision. The app may store activity events, unread states, and device push registrations to support alerts about new messages, request updates, reservation changes, sales status, saved listings, and similar marketplace events.

8. Retention

Buurted keeps account, listing, and transaction-related records for as long as the account or relevant marketplace record is needed. Some data may remain longer when required for legal compliance, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, moderation history, or financial recordkeeping. Messages, reports, reservation and sold-state logs, and system logs may also be retained for safety and audit purposes for a limited period after account deletion or listing removal.

9. Your rights

Depending on your location and the circumstances of the processing, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability. You may also change optional consent choices inside Buurted's privacy and cookie settings. Rights requests, account deletion requests, or questions about specific marketplace records can be sent to privacy@buurted.nl.

10. Security and updates

Buurted uses technical and organizational measures designed to protect accounts, listings, and marketplace data. No system is completely risk free, and users should avoid sharing unnecessary sensitive data in listings or chats. Buurted may update this policy as the product and legal requirements evolve. Material changes will be reflected in an updated version and date.
