Terms of Service
The rules for using Buurted.
Buurted Terms of Service
```These terms govern the use of the Buurted neighbourhood marketplace. By creating an account, posting listings, sending requests, chatting, saving items or using other Buurted services, you agree to these terms.
1. Use of Buurted
You must provide accurate account information, keep your login credentials secure and use Buurted only for lawful marketplace activities. You are responsible for the activity that takes place through your account.
2. Listings and seller responsibilities
- Listings must honestly describe real items, including condition, photos, known defects and price or exchange form.
- You may only list items that you are legally allowed to sell, give away or exchange.
- You may not list prohibited, illegal, unsafe, stolen, counterfeit or otherwise risky items as described in the Buurted Prohibited Items & Content Policy.
- You must keep the status of your listing up to date. If an item is no longer available, you must withdraw it, reserve it or mark it as sold.
- Buurted may use AI-assisted analysis and moderation for feature extraction, content review and quality improvement, but the seller remains responsible for the content of the listing.
3. Buyer responsibilities
Buyers must communicate honestly, respect agreed pickup or handover moments and avoid spam, harassment, deception and repeated no-show behaviour. A request or chat through Buurted does not guarantee a completed transaction.
4. Local transactions and payment choices
Buurted supports local marketplace coordination, including requests, reservations and payment method choices such as iDEAL or cash. Unless Buurted expressly states otherwise, the actual exchange remains between buyer and seller. Users are responsible for checking item details, pickup arrangements, payment safety and whether a handover has actually taken place before treating the exchange as completed.
5. Prohibited items, content and behaviour
You may not use Buurted for illegal goods, counterfeit items, unsafe products, stolen property, regulated goods without the required authorisation, discriminatory or hateful content, scams or behaviour that harms other users or the platform.
The full list of prohibited and restricted categories is available in the Buurted Prohibited Items & Content Policy. That policy forms part of these Terms of Service. If something is illegal to sell, give away or advertise in the Netherlands or under EU law, it is also not allowed on Buurted.
Buurted may also prohibit certain categories that are not always strictly illegal where they create a disproportionate safety, liability or trust risk for a hyperlocal neighbourhood marketplace.
You may not manipulate search results, favourites, boosts, activity flows or conversation flows in order to mislead others.
6. Chats, requests and reservations
Buurted may provide request tools, counter-offers, reservation labels, sold statuses, unread badges and activity notifications to help users follow the progress of marketplace flows. These tools are operational in nature. They do not guarantee availability, enforceable performance or buyer protection.
7. Moderation, reports and enforcement
Buurted may review listings, chats, structured metadata, reports and other safety signals to detect spam, abuse, prohibited items, scams or repeated no-shows. Buurted may adjust visibility, block content, restrict listings or suspend accounts where Buurted reasonably believes that platform rules, the Prohibited Items & Content Policy or applicable law have been violated.
Any user can report a listing, message or profile through the available reporting function. Reports are reviewed manually at this stage. Where legally required, Buurted may provide the affected user with an explanation of the reason for removal, restriction or suspension.
Serious or repeated violations, especially involving illegal or dangerous items, may result in immediate account restriction or suspension. Where necessary, Buurted may share information with competent authorities, such as the police, IGJ, NVWA, Customs or other relevant bodies.
Where appropriate, Buurted may retain moderation records to investigate abuse, improve platform safety, support legal claims or comply with legal obligations.
8. Platform limitations
Buurted is not the seller or buyer in transactions between users unless expressly stated otherwise. Buurted does not inspect, own or guarantee items. Buurted does not guarantee that listings are fully accurate, that users will keep their agreements or that a transaction is risk-free. Users trade locally at their own responsibility and should meet safely.
9. Availability and changes
Buurted may change features, ranking, category systems, moderation workflows, legal texts or notification logic over time. Features may be added, paused or removed where reasonably necessary for operations, safety, compliance or product quality.
10. Termination of access
You may stop using Buurted at any time. Buurted may restrict or terminate access in case of repeated violations, abuse, payment misuse, fraud risk, prohibited items or legal reasons. Some records may remain stored afterwards for compliance, moderation history or dispute handling.
